The Imprint Kit (Grain Copier) i7 Leather is a high-precision two-component silicone, designed for the faithful reproduction of the grain and natural or synthetic veins of leather and coatings such as leatherette. Used in professional leather repair, it restores the original appearance of the leather after an intervention with the repair paste.

It is used after the final coat of paste, when it is partially dry (about 70 to 80%), in order to precisely transfer the existing grain onto the repaired area. Its silicone-based formulation offers excellent fluidity, very high detail precision and optimal dimensional stability, ensuring a homogeneous and invisible repair.

The Imprint Kit (Grain Copier) i7 Leather is a fast-setting “Light Body” two-component silicone, packaged in a double 50 ml cartridge, designed to accurately capture and reproduce the micro-reliefs of a surface.

Selected for its detail reproduction performance, it makes it possible to create a flexible negative imprint of the grain of a sound leather (or leatherette), then transfer it onto a repaired area to recreate a perfectly continuous texture with no visual break.

Its addition-curing silicone technology offers several key advantages in smart repair:

The Grain Copier is used after the final application of repair paste, when it is 70–80% dry: the material must be firm enough to hold its shape while remaining slightly flexible to accept the texture transfer.

This step restores a grain identical to the original before finishing (pigmentation and protection), resulting in a discreet, even, and professional repair.

Product usage

Preparation:

Make sure that the leather surface is clean, dry, and perfectly degreased. The area used for taking the imprint must be sound and unrepaired to capture the original grain.

Prepare the necessary materials:

Double cartridge applicator gun
Two-component silicone cartridge
Mixing nozzle
Transparent plastic film

Application:

Insert the cartridge into the applicator gun and remove the protective cap.
Attach the mixing nozzle.
Extrude a small amount of silicone to ensure proper mixing of the two components.
Apply the paste directly onto a sound area of the leather, without creating air bubbles.
Immediately place the transparent plastic film on top.
Press firmly with your fingers to flatten the paste and ensure a perfect reproduction of the grain (about 5 mm thick).

Drying / Action:

Let it harden for about 5 minutes in open air. Drying can be accelerated with a heat gun for about 1 minute, keeping a safe distance and staying in motion. Once the paste has hardened and is no longer sticky, gently remove the plastic film. Grasp the edge of the silicone pad and gently peel it off the leather. Thanks to its flexibility, the silicone detaches easily without damaging the surface. You now have a perfectly accurate imprint pad, reproducing exactly the relief, pores, and veins of the leather.

Grain transfer:

During the final application of the repair paste, after partial drying (about 70 to 80%), apply the imprint pad to the repaired area. Press evenly to transfer the grain onto the repair. Gently remove the pad. Let it dry completely before proceeding with pigmentation and protection.
