Polysiloxanes, on the other hand, are inorganic polymers containing a main chain of silicon and oxygen (Si-O) atoms, also known as silicones. Polysiloxanes are valued for their flexibility, low-temperature resistance, waterproofing, and insulating properties.
The main difference between the two lies in their chemical composition and the resulting properties. Polysilazanes, with their Si-N structure, tend to offer greater hardness and higher thermal resistance than polysiloxanes, making them especially suitable for applications that require highly adhesive protective coatings. Polysiloxanes, with their Si-O structure, are more flexible and insulating, making them ideal for highly hydrophobic protective coatings.
